Description
JARID1C is a member of a family of histone demethylase enzymes that contain a Jumonji-N (Jmj-N) and Jumonji-C (Jmj-C) domain and an AT-rich interacting domain (ARID). JARID1C also contains 2 PHD domains and a PLU-1 domain, a putative DNA binding module. Recent evidence indicates that JARID1C demethylates histone H3 di- or tri-methylated at lysine 4 and functions as a repressor of transcription.
