Description
L3MBTL1 is a human homolog of the Drosophila l(3)mbt protein, and contains the MBT repeat found in several Drosophila Polycomb-group proteins. Polycomb-group proteins repress gene expression by binding to and altering chromatin structure locally. L3MBTL1 contains a zinc-finger domain as well as three MBT domains, demonstrated previously to facilitate interaction of MBT-containing proteins with methylated histones.
