Description
The lung resistance-related protein (LRP or Major Vault Protein) is required for normal vault structure in which multi-subunits act as scaffolds for protein involved in signal transduction and nucleo-cytoplasmic transport. LRP down-regulates INF-gamma-mediated STAT1 signaling and subsequent activation of JAK. The vault ribonucleoprotein particle is a large (400 A x 670 A) cage structure of 12.9 MDa. LRP is expressed in most normal tissues and is often overexpressed in multidrug-resistant cancer cells.
