Dual specificity mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 3 (MAPPK3, MEK3) is a dual specificity kinase. MAPPK3 is activated by cytokines and environmental stress in vivo. MAPKK3 catalyzes the concomitant phosphorylation of a threonine and a tyrosine residue on MAP kinase p38. Defects in MAPKK3 have been involved in colon cancer.
