Description
Mouse anti Human BAX antibody, clone 1F5-1B7 recognizes human Apoptosis regulator BAX, also known as BAX or Apoptosis regulator BAX, Bax is a 192 amino acid ~21 kDa proapoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family. BAX accelerates programmed cell death by binding to and antagonizing the apoptosis repressor BCL2 or its adenovirus homolog E1B 19k protein. It also induces the release of cytochrome C , activation of CASP3 and thereby apoptosis. Defects in BAX are found in some cell lines from hematopoietic malignancies as T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Burkitt lymphoma, and plasmacytoma.Multiple potential isoforms of BAX generated by alternative splicing have been described. Mouse anti Human BAX antibody, clone 1F5-1B7 binds to the canonical α isoform, however binding to other potential isoforms β, γ, δ, ε, ζ, ψ, and σ, all of which demonstrate variation within the immunogen sequence, has not been evaluated.
