Description
GDF-8 (Growth/differentiation factor 8, myostatin) acts specifically as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. GDF-8 is a secreted TGF beta protein family member that inhibits muscle differentiation and growth. GDF-8 binds to the activin type II receptor.
