Non-POU domain-containing octamer-binding protein (NonO protein/p54nrb) is a DNA- and RNA-binding protein involved in several nuclear processes such as binding octamer sequence in dsDNA, pre-mRNA splicing, and interacting with U5 snRNA. NonO is found in paraspeckle bodies, which contain several RNA-binding proteins and nuclear-retained CTN-RNA. A chromosomal abberation involving NonO protein is a cause of colon carcinoma.
