Description
Nucleobindin-1 is a major calcium-binding protein of the Golgi. Nucleobindin-1 plays a role in calcium homeostasis The EF-hand domains of nucleobindin-1 are unfolded in the absence of Ca2+ and fold upon Ca2+ addition. Nucleobindin-1 was discovered as DNA-binding protein in the serum of lupus-prone mice.
