Description
Osteopontin (OPN) binds tightly to hydroxyapatite and forms an integral part of the bone mineralized matrix. OPN is an integrin alpha-V/beta-3 ligand indicating a role in cell-matrix interaction. OPN is essential in the type I immunity pathway by increasing IFN-gamma and IL-12 production. OPN acts as the stone matrix in urinary stone formation.
