Description
Oxycodone, synthesized from opium-derived thebaine, is an opioid analgesic medication developed in 1916 in Germany. Oxycodone was developed as a new semi-synthetic opioid in an attempt to improve on the existing opiates: morphine, diacetylmorphine (heroin), and codeine. Oxycodone oral medications, which are formulated as single ingredient or compounded products, are generally prescribed for the relief of moderate to severe pain.
