Description
Polio (acute poliomyelitis, infantile paralysis) is caused by a virus, which may infect the nervous system and cause lasting paralysis. Poliovirus is a single-stranded RNA virus and a member og the Picornavirus family. There are three types of the virus: type 1, type 2, and type 3. There is no cross reactivity with type 1 and 2.
