RbAp46 and RbAp48 are closely related WD40 repeat proteins that appear to function as histone chaperones. They are found in a number of protein complexes involved in chromatin remodeling (Mi-2, NURF & NURD), transcriptional repression (Prc2, Sin3) and chromatin assembly (CAF1). Besides histones H3 and H4, both proteins bind directly to a number of other proteins including Rb, MBD3 and MeCP2.
