Description
RXR-a (Retinoid X Receptor alpha, NR2B1) is a nuclear receptor that mediates the biological effects of retinoids by its involvement in retinoic acid-mediated gene activation. RXR-a exerts its action by binding, as a homodimer or a heterodimer, to specific sequences in the promoters of target genes and regulating their transcription. RXR-a is a member of the steroid and thyroid hormone receptor superfamily of transcriptional regulators.
