The new TOPwave® microwave-assisted pressure digestion system from Analytik Jena UK provides a powerful sample preparation capability for atomic spectroscopy from routine laboratory applications through to special applications under extreme conditions. Samples can be prepared for atomic absorption, ICP or ICP/MS analysis. Microwave sample heating gives reduced digestion times and high sample throughput rates.

The system features an innovative sensor concept using a non-contact optical measurement principle. All sample temperatures as well as the internal pressures are measured and displayed individually and in real time. Since there no mechanical probes or immersed sensors, handling is simple and consumables are eliminated.

TOPwave® is a versatile system offering a variety of high-performance fluoropolymer digestion vessels of different volumes. Its innovative design combines simplified sample handling with a host of safety features, including automatic shut-down in the event of reaching critical process parameters. All vessel types can be opened and closed by hand, without any tools. An optional evaporation unit can be used for sample concentration.

TOPwave® is equipped with a touch screen controller for reaction control and data handling. Its SMART algorithm monitors all parameters and adjusts the microwave power accordingly. A variety of pre-installed industry-standard digestion methods are available and user-defined applications can also be set up and stored. Up to twelve frequently used programs are available for instant recall. Digestion parameters for all samples are recorded.

PC control is also available and TOPwave® can be operated remotely via an Ethernet network connection, which also facilitates direct access to digestion data and methods across the network.
