Automated Capillary Electrophoresis Reaches New Milestone

12 Feb 2007

Sebia is celebrating the sale of its 1000th CAPILLARYS system bringing increased efficiency to clinical laboratories worldwide. Sebia’s next generation capillary electrophoresis instruments use the most sophisticated technology to allow busy laboratories improve their diagnosis and monitoring of disease.

CAPILLARYS 2 is an innovative system that fully automates capillary electrophoresis testing from bar-coded primary sample tube to final result. It has the capability for high-resolution protein analysis, immunotyping, urine analysis, carbohydrate deficient transferrin and haemoglobin analysis. Using a continuous sample feed the CAPILLARYS 2 can process up to 80 samples per hour allowing busy laboratories to optimise their workload and freeing personnel to carry out more demanding tasks.

Direct detection at a precise wavelength increases precision and accuracy, ensuring consistent results. Interpretation of the data is less subjective and the enhanced resolution improves both detection and quantification. The system also includes a peltier device to control the temperature as samples migrate through the capillary.
