Bytec Medical Launches Third Generation Waterproof Medical Keyboard with Infection Control

30 Jul 2013

Bytec Medical has launched the latest model in its wireless medical keyboard range. The tactile Medi-KeyTM (MK3) waterproof keyboard is designed for improved infection control and seamless functionality for healthcare, clinical and laboratory environments. The third generation design features sleek contours and an improved tactile feel, providing a comfortable and easy user experience for both medical and laboratory staff and patients alike.

Designed for use where infection and contamination control is critical, the Medi-Key is fortified with a silver-ion antibacterial agent which acts as a secondary defence against cross contamination of harmful bacteria such as MRSA and E. coli. Manufactured using hypo-allergenic, latex-free, silicone rubber, the Medi-Key keyboard can be cleaned under running water and is suitable for use with hospital-grade disinfectants.

To further assist with infection control measures, Medi-Key can be programmed to send alerts at regular intervals when cleaning is required. When the “Disinfect Mode” is activated, the keys and touchpad are disabled, avoiding the need to switch off the computer during cleaning.

The addition of a PC-based application enables the keyboard to be reprogrammed for easy on-site upgrades without the need for special programming equipment or technicians. This function is ideal for changing key configurations amongst other tasks.

With a minimum operating life of 6 hours, battery life is further preserved with a 15 minute sleep mode and auto shutdown after 48 hours. Optional back illumination makes the keys visible in all light conditions including late at night when ward lights are dimmed.
