In this week’s Reviewer in the Spotlight, Dr. Ritesh Bhole, associate professor at Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, reveals how reviews, whether positive or negative, have significantly impacted his purchasing decisions for his lab.
Tell me about your role and your current research
I am currently working as an associate professor at Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research, Pimpri, Pune. My current projects focus on drug design and discovery to search for lead molecules for the treatment of cancer.

What inspired you to get into the world of science?
I love to convert ideas into innovations. Since my childhood, I have always been curious to ask questions on how and why. This curiosity inspired me to make my career in the field of science.

Who is your hero in science and why?
The man who inspired me a lot and my hero in the field of science is Albert Einstein, the German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics. His entire life is truly motivational to any young scientist to achieve excellence in research.
Why is communication vital in science?
Communication is the vital key in the field of science. Science thrives as scientists interact more efficiently. Science is increasingly interdisciplinary, and collaboration and creativity are fostered by the capacity to communicate more effectively across disciplines. Being able to communicate their ideas and discoveries at each step makes the knowledge more accessible to mankind.
Why do you think lab equipment reviews are important?
As reviews come directly from the end users, positive or negative remarks can significantly impact on purchasing of new equipment for research. A detailed review of the product also helps me to find the correct product that suits our area of research.
What would you like to achieve in your work? I would like to find the most effective medicine for the treatment of cancer, that is targeted with minimal side effects and affordable to all.
