No matter whether foods, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, construction materials, or animal feed are involved, their moisture content critically affects the quality, processability, and price of their raw, intermediate, and end products. Moisture analysis is a key component of any quality assurance process. With its two new analyzer series – the PMD320 and the LMA320 – Sartorius is offering ultramodern standards based on microwave resonance technology.

These analyzers deliver fast and precise moisture and density determination that is independent of density and are suitable for use within the process and in the lab.

The New PMD320 Series Delivers up to 800 Single Measurements a Second
With this second generation of analyzers for online-moisture analysis, Sartorius has once again raised the bar on speed and accuracy even higher. Delivering up to 800 single measurements per second, the new series ensures high accuracy even when the product is racing by, for example during measurements taken directly on the conveyer belt or in pipes. This feature ensures that fluctuations in moisture content and any inhomogeneities are detected early. Thanks to seamless analysis and documentation, the process can be adapted fully automatically.

An understandable graphical user interface guides the user through the software. The user can perform moisture calibrations themselves fast and easily thanks to the new auto calibration functions. This feature also enables the user to divide the calibrations into different categories and plot the calculations with varying regression coefficients. Thus, accurate measurement of the surface and core moisture is guaranteed across every moisture range. The new generation of analyzers in the PMD320 series can be integrated into existing processes and feature optimal data connection and interface flexibility.

Non-destructive Measuring Within Just Seconds: The New LMA320 Series
Like its predecessor, the newly modeled LMA320 series from Sartorius is suitable for moisture analysis in pourable, granulated and panel-shaped products such as wooden platforms. Moisture contents ranging from 0.05% to approx. 60% can be determined without a problem. In contrast to many other indirect methods, the microwave resonance technology method determines both the surface and core moisture. Using the proprietary biparametric method, the new LMA320 series can additionally measure the moisture content regardless of the product’s density. This method performs non-destructive measurement, i.e. it does not alter the samples, leaving them available for further use. The modular system, featuring a variety of sensor types and sensitivities, is essentially maintenance-free, while its quick measuring times offer optimal solutions for customer-specific application.

Big Savings Potential Through Optimum Resource Utilization
At certain production stages, it is not uncommon that further processing of the product is not possible until a defined moisture content has been reached. Exact and immediate information on the moisture content is indispensible. It used to be that customers would have to wait for a long time the lab to send information about this parameter. Instead of taking individual random samples, the new Sartorius PMD320 and LMA320 series of analyzers provide 100% monitoring of complete batches fully-automatic during the process sequence either online or at-line directly next to the production line. This way strict compliance with the legally prescribed maximum limits for water content or product specifications can be maintained. By optimizing the water content, valuable energy resources can be conserved and material costs saved.

Fast, Precise, and Flexible Personalized Solutions
The new generation of PMD320 series and LMA320 series analyzers are ideally suited for processes or laboratory applications in the food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. The highly sensitive planar sensors of the PMD320 series have a special ceramic surface that is perfect for use on conveyer belts or in silos, for example. The seamless analysis and documentation during the incoming goods inspection, processing and outgoing inspection of pourable and granulated products is yet another area of application for this new analyzer series from Sartorius.

The main areas of application for this new generation of laboratory monitors, the LMA320 series from Sartorius, include at-line inspections in industrial laboratories, incoming goods inspection and production.

As leading supplier of international laboratory and process technology, Sartorius understands its customers' needs, crafting personalized solutions for existing and future processes. Online monitoring with the new series of analyzers from Sartorius allows users to save so much money that their investment in new analyzers pays off fast.
