Dionex Corporation is pleased to announce the addition of new Acclaim® Carbamate columns designed for analysis of carbamates specified in United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) Method 531.2, using LC-postcolumn derivatization-fluorescence or LC-MS methods.

Carbamates are widely used as pesticides for food crops worldwide. The residual carbamates can pollute drinking water sources, thus causing environmental and health concerns. Under the Clean Water Act, the US EPA requires that drinking water and raw surface water be monitored for the presence of carbamate pesticides and related compounds as described in US EPA Method 531.2 using HPLC with postcolumn derivatization. Detection of regulated compounds, at ever decreasing levels, is a challenge faced by many water testing laboratories. Very often, LC-MS is required for higher sensitivity and identification.

Dionex Acclaim Carbamate columns have the following features:

• Baseline separation of carbamate pesticides in EPA Method 531.2
• Compatible with postcolumn derivatization and LC/MS methods
• High column efficiency
• Rugged column packing

The Acclaim Carbamate columns include 3 μm particle size in 2.1 x 150 mm, 3.0 x 150 mm, and 4.6 x 150 mm formats, and 5 μm particle size in a 4.6 x 250 mm format.
