dotmatics launches new version of chemical cartridge

28 Nov 2006

dotmatics Limited, a provider of informatics and data management solutions to the life sciences industry, today announced that it has released a new version of its chemical cartridge, pinpoint.

The latest version brings dramatic improvements to performance as well as adding a number of tools as standard. Developed in partnership with Astex Therapeutics, pinpoint is now between 3 and 20 times faster at searching than other cartridges on the market, using published competitor benchmarks.

The indexing performance of the cartridge has been maintained with an index speed of 250k compounds per minute - making it much easier to maintain and more suitable for large compound libraries where up-time is critical.

Other features the new version brings are: built-in structure depiction to make it easier for customers to develop in-house systems; improved tautomer searching for registration systems; and built-in property calculation for on-the-fly calculations or large batch calculation.

The cartridge can be supplied standalone or integrated with dotmatics browser, dotmatic’s chemical and biological enterprise query tool, and dotmatic’s configurable chemical registration tool.

Dr. Mike Hartshorn, Chief Scientific Officer of dotmatics said, “We were amazed at the performance improvements we found as we thought pinpoint was about as fast as you could get. For example, a search returning 400,000 matching structures against a standard 3 million compound database takes just 3 seconds on a desktop PC. Many queries now take as little as 0.15 seconds compared to 2.5 seconds with the previous version.”
