Dotmatics, a leading provider of scientific informatics solutions and services, is pleased to announce the release of Cascade, its new web-based test request and tracking application. Cascade is a configurable solution that maps laboratory workflows and business practices, even if they change regularly. It provides a clear view of schedules and resource allocation as it tracks samples through their workflow across laboratories thus enabling the rapid identification and elimination of costly process bottlenecks.

Cascade simplifies the process for requisitioning studies such as analytical and mechanical tests, chemical synthesis, biological assays, formulations and new recipes. It facilitates collaboration between the requestor and the analysts enabling the automatic exchange of test results. Business rules such as security policies, approval chains and email notifications can be flexibly implemented according to the individual requirements of each research team. Cascade delivers much of the traditional LIMS functionally with the added benefit that it works alongside Dotmatics’ existing web-based solutions Studies, Studies Notebook and Browser, providing an integrated laboratory informatics platform. In addition, Cascade can be configured to work with third party solutions to ensure true global sample tracking, resulting in increased laboratory efficiency and operational cost-saving. Some benefits of Cascade include:

• Supports collaborative research by enabling users to easily request tests from, and exchange results with, internal labs and external collaborators
• Reduces errors caused by the manual exchange of information and handling of reports
• Easily configurable interface enables research organizations to dynamically map their sample processes to rapidly identify and resolve bottlenecks
• Accessible web-interface of the lab schedule helps to optimize analysts’ time and machine usage
• Priorities and annotate task requests to fine-tune analyses to be performed

“We are delighted to further enhance the Dotmatics Platform with the release of Cascade,” said Dr Stephen Gallagher, CEO of Dotmatics. “We developed Cascade in close collaboration with a major pharmaceutical and a global agrochemical company. Throughout development it was important that Cascade would support all types of test requests including chemistry, biology, formulations and purification, among other areas. This has been successfully achieved and the highly flexible nature of the solution means it can be tailored to suit the needs and requirements of diverse organizations.”
