Institute of Biomedical Scientists’ Celebrate Centenary at Lord Mayor’s Show with Labs Are Vital

8 Nov 2012

This Saturday, 10 November 2012, the Institute of Biomedical Scientists (IBMS) celebrates its centenary year with the Lord Mayor’s Show. Fifty supporters will be parading through the streets of London in what is dubbed the ‘oldest, grandest and most popular civic procession in the world’. The Lord Mayor’s Show has run for 800 years and this year the procession is over three and a half miles long.

Renowned for its elaborate and colorful celebrations, half a million people will be watching it live on the BBC. This Saturday’s activity is being supported by Labs Are Vital, a programme for laboratory professionals everywhere that celebrates their contribution to patient care and extending the lab's influence within the healthcare community.

The IBMS support Biomedical Scientists in education, career development and by promoting biomedical science awareness within the public. Whilst the majority of IBMS 19,000 members are based in the UK and Ireland, there is a large contingent overseas. Get involved and show your support. If you’re in London on Saturday, why not join in the celebrations?
