Dionex is pleased to announce the release of ASE® 150 and 350 Accelerated Solvent Extractors. ASE uses a combination of elevated temperature and pressure with common solvents to extract organic compounds from a variety of solid and semisolid materials. ASE offers significant savings in extraction time and solvent usage over other extraction methods such as Soxhlet, sonication, and shaking, and it is accepted by the US EPA for the extraction of pesticides from plant tissue (Method 3545).

The new instruments include a pH-hardened pathway that features Dionium™ components; this allows extraction of acidic or basic samples, including those that have undergone hydrolysis, as well as in-cell cleanup and filtration of samples. The new ASE systems can extract a wide variety of sample types, and feature improved pump designs for faster extractions. The ASE 150 features a new oven-block design for improved heating and cell sealing, and is ideal for low-throughput laboratories. The ASE 350 features an integrated solvent controller, Smart Run™ to avoid mismatch of cells and collection vials, and can be programmed to rinse with different solvents between samples for true walk-away automation.
