Irvine Scientific Launches New Feed Media to Maximize Productivity in Large-Scale Bioproduction
Irvine Scientific announce the launch of BalanCDR CHO Feed 4
25 Feb 2016A leading specialist in cell culture media development, Irvine Scientific have announced the release of a BalanCDR CHO Feed 4, a chemically-defined, animal component-free powder feed for large-scale bioproduction in a variety of high performing CHO cells.
When paired with BalanCD CHO Growth A in fed-batch culture systems, up to 20 million viable cells/mL can be achieved, as well as an antibody titer up to 6g/ L.
Recent developments in cell line engineering have resulted in cell lines capable of reaching higher cell densities and productivity rates. To achieve their full production potential these cell lines need nutrient-rich media; however these feeds can be difficult to dissolve and require complicated time-consuming preparation protocols. BalanCD CHO Feed 4 is designed and formulated to prepare easily using a simplified hydration procedure that does not require pH adjustments. BalanCD CHO Feed 4 maintains pH stability in culture and is designed to support growth while minimizing the production of metabolites that adversely affect titer levels; this results in process consistency, significantly higher protein production and protein quality.
"Surveys of large-scale culture media end-users identify time and effort required for mixing powdered media as a top concern. By applying our expertise at media development and formulation we are able to deliver a product that provides performance, flexibility and ease-of-use that facilitates a more robust process." said Dr. Jessie H.-T. Ni, Chief Scientific Officer of Irvine Scientific. "This new Feed is a significant addition to our BalanCD CHO platform that is designed to streamline the development and scale-up process to help our customers get to market faster."
