The world’s first portable uncooled microbolometer thermographic camera with 1.23 megapixel resolution is now available from the infrared measurement specialist InfraTec.

This breakthrough in thermographic camera technology provides the highest quality thermographic resolution, image detail and sharpness available and opens up the use of infrared thermography to many new industries and applications.

The new range of VarioCAM® high resolution thermographic cameras, designed and manufactured by JENOPTIK Laser, Optik, Systeme GmbH, is distributed exclusively by InfraTec in most of the world’s markets.

VarioCAM® high resolution is of modular design and uses a carefully selected uncooled microbolometer Focal Plane Array detector with a choice of 384 x 288 or 640 x 480 pixels.

Combined with an opto-mechanical resolution enhancement function resolutions of 768 x 576 or 1,280 x 960 pixels respectively can be obtained continuously, enabling thermographers to evaluate images in greater detail and accuracy than previously available with existing portable thermal cameras.

Being modular the VarioCAM® high resolution also provides the customer with an extensive choice of options and temperature measurement ranges, from -40 to 2,000°C, to suit the specific application.

VarioCAM® high resolution is ideal for use in a wide range of industrial and research and development applications, such as: predictive maintenance, building inspections, process monitoring, control and automation, quality assurance, optimization of products and components and non-destructive testing.

VarioCAM® high resolution is ergonomically designed for ease of use with numerous automatic functions and intuitive single-handed operation making the camera simple and safe to operate.

An integrated professional quality colour viewfinder and bright, daylight TFT colour display assist the user to visualize the scene, access camera controls and measurement parameters easily and concentrate on the measurement itself.

Other features, which enable multimedia-based analysis of thermographic measurements, include: integral LED video light used for saving visual images in low light situations, voice annotation and internal real-time memory for storing thermographic video sequences.

A wide range of optional accessories is available providing additional flexibility, including the new range of high-precision, full signal ƒ1.0 thermographic lenses; wide angle, telephoto, microscopic and close-up for close focus operation.

Intended for the use in tough industrial environments VarioCAM® high resolution has a rugged light metal housing and fully equipped still only weights 1.5kg.

A standard, off-the shelf Lithium-Ion battery allows continuous, uninterrupted operation of up to three hours.

The combination of VarioCAM® high resolution and InfraTec’s proven image analysis software package IRBIS® provides a powerful thermographic inspection and analysis aid saving the user both time and operating costs of plant and process.

IRBIS® thermographic analysis software is also modular with standard and extensive versions available to configure the system to suit the particular application.
