Merck has redesigned its benchtop pure water solution, launching the new Milli-Q® IX 7003/7005/7010/7015 Type 2 water purification system.

The system provides laboratories with a reliable and consistent source of high- quality pure water that meets the requirements of both critical applications, such as for microbiology culture media, as well as general uses, including preparing buffers and rinsing glassware. Water from the system can also feed equipment and instruments, making it an ideal and versatile solution for most laboratories.

Users of the Milli-Q® IX pure water system can have full confidence that water is not a variable in their analyses. Powerful purification technologies, an intelligent pure water storage solution, and convenient quality monitoring at the point of dispense supports scientists in achieving reliable and reproducible results. In addition, integrated data management automatically secures data and provides rapid data access and full traceability for audits.

Merck’s new water purification system is a smaller and more intuitive and ergonomic device compared with previous Elix® generation systems. A digital touchscreen display allows simple operation, the E-POD® dispenser is easy and convenient to handle, and the smaller footprint is free of tubing and cables for a clutter-free workspace.

The Milli-Q® IX pure water system proudly boasts a range of sustainable purification technologies and design features aimed at minimizing environmental impact:

  • Mercury free: ech2o® lamps use UVC LED technology to inactive bacteria.
  • Water & energy savings: Advanced reverse osmosis recycles reject water, reducing water waste and overall consumption. “Lab Close” mode minimizes water and energy consumption when the lab is closed for extended periods.
  • Reduced waste: Elix® electrodeionization technology eliminates the need for chemical regeneration, avoiding chemical waste. Consumable lifetimes have doubled vs. previous generations, from 6 months to a year. More compact system, tank and consumables mean less plastic has been used for manufacturing, packaging and shipping.
  • Paper savings: Online data access supports paperless data management. MyMilli-Q™ cloud-based digital services enable online contract management.

Merck’s Milli-Q® IX 7003/7005/7010/7015 systems will be available for purchase in June 2020. These systems will replace the existing Elix® Advantage and Elix® Reference systems.
