New electrophoresis High Resolution Immunofixation using Hydragel kit from Sebia

8 Dec 2006

A new Hydragel kit for the HYDRASYS agarose gel electrophoresis system is now available from Sebia UK.

The High Resolution Immunofixation technique detects and identifies monoclonal proteins and Bence Jones monoclonal kappa or lambda free light chains in serum and urine to aid diagnosis and monitoring of disease. Even low concentrations of paraproteins may be significant so high sensitivity electrophoresis of urine and serum is essential for accurate diagnosis.

The new procedure uses longer application and migration times than standard methods to greatly improve the resolution in the beta and gamma zone; this can be an aid to interpreting certain samples with multiple bands such as oligoclonal patterns.

This new Hydragel kit is part of an expanding range of applications for HYDRASYS confirming its position as the leading gel electrophoresis system for clinical laboratories. A high degree of automation combined with flexible programming makes it the preferred instrument for laboratories with variable workloads.
