New HPLC column for extremes of pH

Fortis Technologies Limited has shown in collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company how its Fortis C18 column can withstand extremes of pH.

In its study Fortis C18 was shown to lose just 3% of its initial efficiency over a 90 day period when run in a mobile phase containing 0.1% Ammonia. Ammonium Carbonate has also been proved to work within pharmaceutical analysis at high pH offering excellent peak shapes and efficiency over existing phases marketed for high pH chromatography.

As well as providing the ultimate in peak shapes, Fortis C18 silica columns can withstand extreme low pH. Now with the advances made by Fortis Technologies the analyst can routinely operate at high pH as well with a silica based phase.
