New quick and easy CDT testing method from Sebia is ideal for screening

2 Mar 2007

The CAPILLARYS Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin (CDT) assay from Sebia is a sensitive and specific test for clearly identifying, quantifying and visualising the effects of harmful and repeated alcohol consumption.

Capillary electrophoresis is a new method of monitoring the relative concentration of CDT, a marker which increases during long term high alcohol consumption. Genetic variations of transferrin and non alcohol related liver conditions are differentiated so, unlike traditional methods, no additional test is required to confirm results.

The fully automated assay has a throughput of 38 samples an hour and requires no sample preparation eliminating the potential for manual errors. Graphical presentation and powerful software facilitates interpretation of results and improves patient management.

CAPILLARYS 2 provides a cost effective system for routine CDT analysis and is ideal as a screening tool for detecting alcohol abuse and monitoring treatment by replacing slow, labour intensive methods which gave less specific results.
