Now pioneering EMCCD technology is within everyone’s reach…the new Andor lucaEM

10 Jan 2006

Andor Technology plc has just announced the launch of the Andor lucaEM, the newest camera from Andor’s stable of EMCCD cameras.

Following on from the success of the Andor iXon (the world’s first EMCCD camera) and the Andor Newton (the world’s first Spectroscopy EMCCD detector), the lucaEM is a highly cost-effective yet powerful camera making EMCCD available to every laboratory.

Market Development Manager Dr. Colin Coates says “The lucaEM represents a new performance standard in 'workhorse' cameras. EMCCD provides ultimate sensitivity. Even single photons are amplified above the noise floor, and the full QE of the sensor is harnessed. We are proud to be able to offer this camera at a price that labs will find very attractive. The lucaEM provides outstanding value”.

Some of the features of this innovative new camera include fast frame rates of 30 full frames/sec, a linear and quantitative EM gain scale, USB connectivity and iQ software, the leading price / performance multi-dimensional image acquisition and analysis software.

The Andor lucaEM has many applications across variable grades of light including Fluorescent In Situ Hybridization (FISH), Fluorescent proteins including Green Fluorescent Protein, Immunofluorescence, Living and fixed cells, wide field fluorescence microscopy and Comet assays.
