On-line Mobile Phase Degasser for HPLC
29 Aug 2006The new Phenomenex Degassex Model DG-4400 on-line degassing system is designed to rapidly and efficiently remove dissolved air from all HPLC mobile phases.
The Degassex system replaces the tedious and inefficient methods of helium sparging or ultrasonication. Important for ensuring optimum pump and detector performance, the extremely small, modular unit can be used with any HPLC pump or system. Dissolved oxygen is removed in-line up to 0.6ppm to provide one of the most powerful and efficient degassers on the market. Based on the principle of continuous vacuum filtration across a gas-permeable membrane, the DG-4400 contains four solvent channels, is versatile and light-weight.
The new model is CPU-controlled and offers built-in self-diagnostics. The entire flow path is biocompatible, with all wetted parts composed of Teflon/PEEK (polyetherether ketone). A universal power supply accepts whatever power is available in the lab (from 85 to 260 VAC, 50/60 Hz), so one model fits all. Oxygen removal surpasses the helium sparging method, and, depending on usage, the system will pay for itself in six months to a year.
