You can now achieve large volume solid phase extraction with the Gilson GX-271/4 ASPEC solid phase extraction system from Anachem, processing samples up to and beyond 1 Litre. Ideal for performing pre-analysis sample clean-up, the standard Gilson GX-271/4 ASPEC utilizes 1ml, 3ml and 6ml SPE cartridges with sample volumes as high as 100ml. However, when using low concentrates of analytes in water, many SPE methods require the loading of up to 1 litre of sample which is now possible with the new large volume upgrade.

The system’s large volume capabilities are achieved by incorporating a set of Valvemate II switching valves and new racks. These select samples directly and allow them to be positioned off the liquid handler bed and drawn straight from their bottles. As well as its 1 litre loading capacity, the (LV SPE) ASPEC can accommodate the 1ml, 3ml and 6ml cartridges for methods that require larger volumes of elution or faster throughput.

A new mobile rack specific for 47mm SPE disks is now available for use with the Waters Oasis™ HLB Disks and Bakerbond products. Typical loading flow rates between 50 and 200 ml/min can be achieved with the use of a new sample loading pump, pumping both clean and dirty water. This is all available on the Gilson ASPEC, a highly versatile platform that can still deliver sub-microilitre volumes and multiple litres accurately on demand. Operated by Gilson TrilutionLH software, a powerful and simple to use interface, the (LV SPE) ASPEC allows users to run samples with minimal effort while still retaining the flexibility required for method development needs and routine QC requirements.
