Pharmacy Show: Labcold Offers Free Refrigerated Storage Compliance Check

31 Jul 2007

Pharmacy managers concerned about the impact of the new Department of Health (DoH) Green Book requirements on vaccine refrigeration will find the answers to all their questions on the Labcold stand at this year’s Pharmacy Show.

Following a successful debut at last year’s show, Labcold will be featuring its revised range of Pharmacy Refrigerators, including an all-new glass-door 285 Litre model. The glass door line-up will also include 140 litre and 360 litre models to complement the existing highly popular solid door range.

All products are fully compliant with the new DoH Green Book on storage of vaccines as well as Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) Guidelines. Key issues raised by these include the calibration, monitoring and validation of an even temperature throughout the storage chamber - none of which can be met by the domestic refrigerators currently in wide use by many pharmacies.

Labcold estimates that over 50,000 pharmacy refrigerators will need to be replaced. Labcold experts will be on hand to offer advice to pharmacy managers on the requirements of the new guidelines and on likely future enhancements – for example, the next issue of the RPSGB Guidelines are expected to call for separate storage and dispense fridges.

Labcold refrigerators are already widely used in both chain and independent pharmacies and were chosen for the high-street Chlamydia screening service pilot undertaken by the Department of Health at over 200 London pharmacies.

Robin Gregson, Sales & Marketing Director at Labcold, said: “These new models have been designed and developed in response to the needs of our customers. When pharmacies start to upgrade their refrigerated storage facilities, we believe our new range will be unbeatable in the market.”
