SpectralWorks are pleased to announce the implementation of RemoteAnalyzer as the open access mass spectrometry solution in the School of Chemistry at the University of Southampton has been extended to incorporate sample tracking via bar code.

RemoteAnalyzer is an off-the-shelf, cross-vendor software package which has allowed the University of Southampton to adopt a unified approach across a number of vendors' instruments. The open access service is available to undergraduate and postgraduate students who want to use GC/MS and LC/MS analyses during their studies and research.

The MS service at Southampton supports 200 undergraduate and 150 post graduate students. One of the key benefits for the user is the ease of sample submission irrespective of the type of analysis or the instrument that the sample is run on. The introduction of bar code scanning capability significantly reduces the time required for sample submission. Dr. John Langley has been responsible for the School of Chemistry’s MS facility since 1988. 'Oneof the key benefits to the department is the amount of time required to train new users is significantly reduced.'

RemoteAnalyzer uses the generic data processing package AnalyzerPro™ to provide data processing capabilities in a simple and consistent manner. In the majority of cases the standard AnalyzerPro report is all that is required.
