Sartorius Stedim Biotech has launched the Opta SFT-I sterile connector, a single-use device that allows sterile connection between two separate, presterilized components in biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes.

The Opta SFT-I sterile connector combines well-established barrier system approaches with an enhanced qualification concept and with improved product features. Opta SFT-I connectors consist of a female and a male coupling body that, once assembled, create a sterile fluid path via easy 4-step operation. In addition to offering ½” hose barbs, the Opta SFT-I range includes ¼” and 3/8” hose barbs. All hose barb dimensions have been specifically designed to ensure the stability and the integrity of the coupling between the hose barb and various types of tubing.

The Opta SFT-I connectors are 100% integrity-tested, gamma irradiated or sterilizable by autoclave to assure the highest quality for critical applications, such as transfer of sterile fluid.

The introduction of the Opta SFT-I sterile connector is a further milestone rounding off Sartorius Stedim’s single-use manufacturing range, which enables users in biomanufacturing to efficiently implement platform technology based disposable solutions.
