SelectScience, the fastest way to impartial, expert opinion about the best laboratory equipment and latest techniques, has announced the launch of the Science Behind the Olympics Exclusive Feature, providing a unique insight into the science, challenges and people involved in this summer’s Olympic Games. The feature is launched with a series of exclusive, behind the scenes video interviews with Professor David Cowan and his team at the London Anti-Doping Science Centre.

The SelectScience team was invited to the London Olympics Anti-Doping Science Centre, to meet the people and to report on the cutting-edge techniques and processes being employed during this summer’s Olympics and Paralympics Games. The laboratory, located at GSK Harlow, Essex, is the most high-tech in the history of the games. Professor David Cowan, Director of King’s College London’s Drug Control Centre, is independently leading the operation from the GSK base: “We have developed, with GSK support, super-fast and super-sensitive technologies to be able to detect use of prohibited substances. Our role is to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the lab to deliver robust anti-doping testing for the Games”.

The Science Behind the Olympics Feature will be available on SelectScience from 1st May and throughout the Olympics and Paralympics Games. The SelectScience Editorial team will be featuring new interviews, technical articles, user product reviews and videos each week, to provide all laboratory professionals with a unique look at the work of anti-doping laboratories and other scientific aspects of the Games.
