SelectScience Receives Global Media Coverage Following Royal Birth
24 Jul 2013Timing is everything and nothing could be truer for SelectScience as founders Louise and Arif Butt were among the first to officially congratulate the Queen on the royal birth, during their attendance of the Queens Award for Enterprise Reception. This first recorded conversation has since gained global media coverage for Louise and SelectScience.
Louise and Arif Butt were invited to attend a reception at Buckingham Palace with Queen Elizabeth II on Tuesday 23 July, the day after the Duchess of Cambridge had her first child. During the event SelectScience was officially awarded the Queens Award for Enterprise.
Arif and Louise Butt were delighted to be the first to converse with her Majesty, who spoke of her delight on the arrival of her first great grandson. Her majesty mentioned that her great grandson, who will be known as Prince George of Cambridge, was a “big boy” and that she was “thrilled”, adding “the first born is very special”, with which both Arif and Louise agreed.
This first conversation with her Majesty about the royal birth was made public by her Majesty’s press secretary, gaining global media coverage for Louise and SelectScience. Louise’s feedback on the Queen’s conversation has featured across the world’s media including The Daily Telegraph, The Times, BBC, ITV, The Australian, 3News NZ and CBS.
Louise Butt, Co-founder and Commercial Director of SelectScience said: “It has been a truly wonderful day and one that I shall never forget. In addition to SelectScience receiving the UK’s highest accolade for business success, we were so pleased to have been able to congratulate her Majesty on this very historic occasion.”
Arif Butt, Co-founder and CEO of SelectScience said: “We were delighted to attend the Queens Award for Enterprise reception and to meet her Majesty at Buckingham Palace. Little did we know Louise and SelectScience would gain global media coverage as a result. The inspiration to found SelectScience came from our own children but we couldn’t have imagined the company would be involved in the birth story of a Royal on its 15th year anniversary!”
“The honor of receiving the Queen’s Award for Enterprise recognizes the commitment of our amazing team in delivering excellence, quality and customer focus. We would like to take this opportunity of thanking both our members and sponsors in the science industry who have made this possible and we hope it will attract others to join the company as it enjoys exponential growth.”
After the honor of being awarded a Queens Award for Enterprise, celebrating its 15 year anniversary and surpassing 250,000 global subscribers, SelectScience is looking forward to what the future can bring after a very successful 2013. On 13 September, at its new offices in Bath, SelectScience will host a special celebratory event for its sponsors, partners and people involved in the company over the last 15 years.
