SeraCare Life Sciences has announced the launch of SeraCon™ Vitamin D Depleted Diluent, the latest offering in the company’s line of SeraCon processed human plasma products. SeraCon™ Vitamin D Depleted Diluent is a high-quality human plasma-based matrix instrumental in the development of accurate Vitamin D assays.

Vitamin D testing of patients is steadily increasing, creating a growing demand for a ready supply of highly accurate Vitamin D test kits. The new diluent from SeraCare , meets the needs of the most sensitive test methods and is certified <1ng/mL Vitamin D2/D3 based on testing by LC-MS/MS and immunoassay. All donor units used in the product have tested negative or non-reactive for anti-HIV 1/2, anti-HCV and HBsAg using test methods approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

The SeraCon Diluent is processed at SeraCare’s ISO-certified facilities following a rigorous, validated process. The product is available in large lots of up to 200 liters, and donor units are pooled to ensure lot-to-lot consistency, making it an ideal option for high-volume production environments.

“SeraCon Vitamin D Depleted Diluent is derived entirely from human plasma and does not contain any equine or synthetic plasma, making it an extremely valuable tool for in vitro diagnostics manufacturers,” said Nicole Loranger, Associate Product Manager, Bulk Products, SeraCare Life Sciences. “By providing a matrix that is as close as possible to the human serum in patient samples, SeraCon Vitamin D Depleted Diluent enables manufacturers to greatly improve the accuracy, consistency and sensitivity of their Vitamin D assays. In turn, those advantages will help our customers bring new testing products to market faster and more cost-effectively.”
