Smart Workflow Solutions for Better Patient Care to be Exhibited at ECCMID 2017
18 Apr 2017Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, a global leader in the clinical diagnostics industry, has announced it will exhibit its “Smart Workflow Solutions for Better Patient Care,” at the 27th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) in Vienna, Austria, 22 – 25 April 2017.
Beckman Coulter is committed to partnering with laboratory professionals to achieve operational excellence and clinical value by providing an integrated solution of tools, insights, information management systems, and continuous process improvements—it’s called the Beckman Coulter Diagnostics Difference. At ECCMID, Beckman Coulter will showcase molecular diagnostics, microbiology and urinalysis systems and workflows designed to accelerate testing and improve laboratory efficiency.
Among the solutions featured, visitors to booth #6 will learn about:
- Enhancing the laboratory’s molecular testing workflow using DxN VERIS Molecular Diagnostics System* and VERIS assays
- Detecting emerging resistance as it happens with the DxM MicroScan WalkAway System
- Reducing manual microscopy to improve productivity via the iRICELL Urinalysis system
- Implementing a solution for procalcitonin testing using AU clinical chemistry
In addition to its display of products and services, Beckman Coulter is sponsoring two scientific symposiums, designed to advance clinical excellence in the laboratory:
Impact of New Treatments on Viral Load Monitoring and Patient Management
New anti-viral drugs come to market on a regular basis, continuously transforming viral infection management. This two-hour symposium takes a deep dive into this dynamic landscape, focusing primarily on hepatitis viral infections. Renowned clinicians will show how new treatments, in conjunction with the close monitoring of patients’ viral loads, are improving care in both the European Union and Egypt.
Date: Saturday, 22 April
Time: 16:30 to 18:30
Speakers: Valeria Micheli, MD, Ph.D., Slim Fourati, MD, Ph.D., Ossama Khalafallah, MD, Ph.D, Massimo Puoti, M.D., and Duncan Whittaker
New Challenges for Microbiology Laboratories in Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing
Emerging antimicrobial resistance has become a critical issue in today’s healthcare environment. Once outliers, resistant microbes are now considered routine. Microbiology laboratories have had to evolve in response, finding new ways to test for resistant strains. This symposium examines the central role susceptibility testing plays in the microbiology laboratory. Experts will discuss emerging resistance in Gram-negative bacteria, how MIC contributes to tailoring therapeutic decisions and the challenges laboratories must overcome to detect resistance during routine testing.
Date: Monday, 24 April
Time: 16:00 to 18:00
Speakers: Pr. Dr. Sören Gatermann, Pr. Rafael Canton, Pr. David Livermore, Pr. Barbara Zimmer
