Spotlight on microplate innovations…

7 Feb 2008

Porvair Sciences Ltd has announced that it will present its latest new products and applications developments for scientists using microplates at the forthcoming Analytica 2008 meeting in Munich, Germany (1st - 4th April).

Visitors to the Porvair Sciences / Dunn Labortechnik booth 120 in Hall A3 will see the international launch of two innovative new products - the MicroStream™ microplate thawing station and the Thermobond® II heat sealer.

The new MicroStream™ microplate thawing station circulates ambient air across the base of a frozen microplate or tube rack to gently and evenly thaw samples without risk of damage. Economical, quiet in use and compact, the MicroStream is an ideal addition to your microplate or tube rack sample management.

The Thermobond 2 is a new generation heat sealer designed to seal polypropylene collection plates, PCR plates, microplates and deepwell blocks with a specially prepared pierceable film or foil. The Thermobond 2 incorporates a new highly ergonomic design to minimise RSI risk whilst creating a reproducible, high integrity seal every time.

At this important meeting Porvair Sciences will also exhibit the MiniSeal™, an entry-level semi-automated thermal sealer developed for laboratories sealing small to medium batches of microplates. The versatile device is capable of producing an accurate and tight seal on any SBS proposed standard, deep well or PCR microplate from 3 to 62mm in height.

For laboratories looking to remove the traditional drug discovery 'bottleneck' of solvent evaporation in 96-well microplates prior to analysis or reconstitution in buffer - Porvair Sciences' MiniVap™ sample concentrator will be of particular interest. The affordable MiniVap takes just minutes to dry down a plate. Compact in design the MiniVap will fit into any standard fume cupboard. The MiniVap is ideal for laboratories tasked with smaller numbers of individual plates. Porvair will also display a selection from their comprehensive range of top quality deepwell, assay, filtration, low and high volume microplates.

Porvair Sciences' Microplate Automation division will also be showing the revolutionary Tri-Seal HTS automated high throughput Microplate sealer, running with an automated stacker/loader at the GAMBICA Pavilion in Hall 2 Stand B 330. This useful combination offers unattended sealing of up to 50 microplates per batch and is showing for the first time in Europe.
