Thar Technologies Exhibiting at Pittcon 2006

9 Mar 2006

Thar Technologies, Inc. will exhibit at Pittcon® 2006. Held at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL this year, Pittcon® is the largest annual exposition and technical conference on laboratory science.

Several Thar instruments, including the Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) Method Station, SFC-MS Resolution and the Prep SFC 350, will be on display at Thar’s booth # 5469.

Dr. Lalit Chordia, CEO and President of Thar, will present a poster in the afternoon LC-MS session, on Tuesday, March 14. The poster presentation is entitled, “SFC-MS-Prep: A New Approach for Mass Triggered Collection,” and will illustrate Thar’s "cryofocusing" technology for collection in SFC. Cryofocusing enables the freezing of a desired analyte after separation, which cannot be done in any other current collection method. The poster presentation will begin with a baseline of separating compounds on analytical SFC instrument using standard mass-triggering fractionation software. Then, Dr. Chordia will show what no other company has been able to do before: collect analyte repeatedly and consistently by freezing in a common collector, allowing the CO2 and modifier to pass, selecting a desired solvent to extract the modifier and then delivering and depositing the analyte into a preferred, standard collection vial.

During an oral session, Dr. Lester Dolak, LADChrom Technologies and senior consultant to Thar, will address concerns chromatographers have regarding how to increase productivity with little or no increase in resources. Dr. Dolak will present several reasons why supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) can be less expensive, “greener”, safer, and more productive than any mode of LC, and why SFC should be considered as a serious option for any proposed additions or changes to the chromatography laboratory. His presentation will be on March 16 at 8:30am in the session entitled, “HPLC: High Throughput and Drug Discovery,” in room 204A at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, FL.
