The ultimate range of water purifiers for clinical analyzers
22 Nov 2006ELGA® LabWater, the global leading supplier of water purification systems for the clinical market, has launched MEDICA® Pro, four new compact, cost-effective water purifiers which extend the MEDICA range specifically designed to feed clinical analyzers.
MEDICA Pro-S, MEDICA Pro-R, MEDICA Pro-RE and MEDICA Pro LPS are designed to cover a wide choice of configurations, from small non-pressurised feeds right up to large loop or central in-house supplies, and deliver up to four liters per minute of Clinical Laboratory Reagent Water (CLRW) to single or multiple analyzers. Each system has a compact and convenient footprint, thanks to a unique integral reservoir which eliminates the need for a separate tank, pump and pre-treatment filter. In addition, the integral reservoir and reduced rinse-up time make for simpler and easier installation.
MEDICA Pro systems are carefully designed to be highly cost-effective. The combination of media ion exchange resins in the deionization cartridge has been optimized to give a longer lifespan and reduce running costs, with users having the option of adding a second cartridge to reduce the exchange frequency even further. Where the feedwater supply contains high levels of dissolved CO2, a degassing E-cartridge can also be added (standard on the MEDICA Pro RE).
Unlike the water generated from many traditional single pass systems, users can also confidently use the water from the MEDICA Pro systems for dilution of reference standards and immunoassays. Each system continuously re-circulates the water through a combination of ion exchange, reverse osmosis, UV photo-oxidation and ultra-microfiltration technologies to generate purified water with a TOC of less than 30ppb, resistivity of greater than 10 MΩ-cm and a consistent bacterial specification of less than 1 CFU/ ml.
To ensure compliance with data analysis and trending guidelines, MEDICA Pro systems have a unique Xport USB mass storage device that allows a wide range of validation and performance data to be easily downloaded and transferred to a PC for analysis using Xport data analysis software. Users can conveniently maintain a separate computer system to analyze and publish the results in a variety of formats to comply with 21 CFR Part 11 reporting regulations. A ‘User Recognition Key’ has also been included to ensure a high level of security and prevent unauthorized access or accidental changes to validated set-up and sanitization routines.
In all, the MEDICA Pro range is easy-to-use, extremely robust and cost-effective. Medical laboratory scientists will find the MEDICA Pro quickly becomes an indispensable part of the laboratory.
