Thermo Fisher Scientific Offers New Western Blot Kit for Faster Results with Picogram Sensitivity
27 Oct 2009Thermo Fisher Scientific introduces the Thermo Scientific Pierce Fast Western Blot Kit, SuperSignal West Pico Substrate. The new kit provides optimized reagents and protocols that decrease the time for Western blot detection from four hours to approximately 55 minutes, without loss in sensitivity. Separate kits for use with either a mouse or rabbit primary antibody are available.
The Pierce® Fast Western Blot Kit, SuperSignal West Pico Substrate can be used with either nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes. The kits include SuperSignal West Pico Chemiluminescent Substrate, a highly sensitive enhanced substrate for detecting horseradish peroxidase (HRP). This substrate’s intense signal output enables detection of picogram amounts of antigen. The sensitivity, intensity and duration of the signal allow for easy documentation using photographic or other imaging methods. Blots can be repeatedly exposed to film to obtain optimal results or stripped of the immunodetection reagents and reprobed.
The Pierce Fast Western Blot Kit protocol requires minimal hands-on time without the need for specialized equipment. The kit is available in a trial size sufficient to perform five Western blots (8 x 10 cm). A larger kit with reagents for 20 Western blots is also available.
