The world’s most innovative, exciting and effective new clinical lab and point-of-care testing technologies have been recognized at a glitzy awards ceremony at AACC 2019.

The winners of the 2019 Clinical Scientists’ Choice Awards® were announced by SelectScience Editor-in-Chief Kerry Parker to an audience of industry leaders, scientists, and healthcare professionals.

Now in their 12th year, the annual Scientists’ Choice Awards recognize the new technologies which have made the greatest impact on clinical science and patient care. Clinical scientists and healthcare professionals worldwide were once again invited to participate in the awards by nominating, voting and reviewing online.

Winners and shortlisted nominees in the coveted awards were celebrated during a SelectScience awards party held yesterday evening during the AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo 2019 in Anaheim, USA. Following another record number of nominations, clinical scientists were invited to vote in two categories: Best New Clinical Laboratory Instrumentation of 2018 and Best New Clinical Assay/Kit of 2018. Read on as we reveal your chosen winners…

Best New Clinical Laboratory Instrumentation of 2018

Nominated and voted for by scientists across the globe, the Best New Clinical Laboratory Instrumentation of 2018 award was presented to Beckman Coulter, for the DxH 520 Hematology Analyzer. The robust, easy-to-use system aims to boost patient care by combining many of the analytic strengths of a larger-volume instrument with the ease of a table-top analyzer and has received multiple positive reviews over the past year on SelectScience. Among those paying testament to its quality is Mark Laughery, from Broadlawns Medical Center, Iowa, who wrote of the instrument: “Great unit. Small footprint but with great throughput and accuracy."
