Leica Microsystems demonstrated the new CEREBRO Sample Tracking System for Histology sample processing at the IBMS Congress last week.

The CEREBRO System identifies and tracks patient samples through the histology process using a single unique identifier for each patient. This improves patient safety by creating a secure link between patient and tissue that eliminates transcription errors and misidentification.

The system tracks patient specimens from admittance to the laboratory, to archive, reducing the risk of laboratory errors and possible misdiagnosis whilst contributing to LEAN workflow. Used primarily in laboratories analyzing biopsies for cancer diagnosis, Leica Microsystems CEREBRO ensures that the correct patient tissue is positively identified through all critical steps required to prepare tissue for diagnosis.

With Leica Microsystems CEREBRO, laboratories, pathologists and patients can be confident that they have the right specimen, undergoing the correct process, leading to an accurate diagnosis.
