Great instrument and software!
Analysis of metals in digested samples
It's software is easy to use and intuitive. It helps that the run is straightforward to set up and, during analysis, you will get prompts for the correct sample under the correct analyte. In addition, the results are easy to read and you don't have to play with the display as you do with other vendors' software.

Ancient technique
Flame AA's are reliable, but it is an older method and older technique for metals analysis. In the environmental water lab, it is not the preferred instrument. It is slow and the lamps go out without warning. Matrix and environmental condition can also effect results.

The 240 FS is a nice instrument, is really simple end effective. The engineering of the nebulizer and the combustion chamber is impressive and easy to adjust to customer needs. We are using it with the SIPS 20 a very effective dilution system. There are some minor issues with the software and the instrument is prone to signal drifting overtime.

I used this product for all my PhD. It is easy to use and set up the instrument lamps and software. It could be used with any kind of sample from the simplest as water to the hardest as produced water (high salinity) and drugs. It is possible reach very low limit of detection for trace metal analysis.

Trace elements in pharmaceutical softgels
This instrument works best when running individual samples and not sample after sample. In my opinion the autosampler is a pain to use, the preparation required to set the pump is not worth the time. The reproducibility of one run to another can vary by as much as 0.3%, which can lead to variance on each product you are running. The same lot can give different results tomorrow.
