ApoE Knockout Rabbit Characteristics:
- 8 bp deletion within Exon 3
- Homozygous knockouts exhibit complete loss of ApoE protein via Western blot
- At four months of age, ApoE knockout rabbits demonstrate serum cholesterol levels 2-5x greater than wildtype
- At four and five months of age, ApoE knockout rabbits demonstrate triglyceride levels up to 2x greater than wildtype
