Microscopy
We switched to the BC43 after years of using an inverted microscope with spinning disk confocal. The BC43 offers the ease of use that one would expect out of a core instrument with the light throughput of our outgoing microscope. The Andor team has been highly responsive with all queries we have asked, and the price was hard to beat.

Fluorescence microscopy
BC 43 is a revolutionary spinning disk confocal built in a portable box. It can be placed anywhere it’s needed because it doesn’t require a dark room or an anti-vibrational table. The confocal mode gives great quality images and is very fast as it’s a spinning disk. Thanks to the dedicated software you can as well stitch your tiles or deconvolve. It’s probably the easiest confocal I have used.

Life sciences/imaging/microscopy
BC43 benchtop confocal gives great images with a minimal learning curve for users. People without previous microscopy experience can easily use the confocal system and take great images from first usage, because both the hardware and the software are simple to use. It's really small and compact and can be used in a lab bench, without the requirement of dark rooms or other facilities, making it a great fit for every wet lab. The price is in the range of a widefield microscope but this system allows for both widefield and confocal microscopy. Overall, very versatile without compromising on imaging quality.

Confocal microscopy
Capture superb confocal images at least 10 times faster than point scanner-based systems with the Andor Benchtop Confocal!
BC43 is a prime solution for 3D imaging of thick samples. A high sensitivity, high-speed imaging camera makes it perfect for live-cell confocal imaging.
A motorized XY stage allows multiple point acquisition, large organism montages, and multipoint scanning resulting in outstanding productivity from a single imaging experiment.
Widefield fluorescence microscopy
- Offers the gentlest illumination mode for samples that are super-sensitive to light.
- Detects lower sample signals than in confocal mode.
- Offers the fastest imaging speeds to capture dynamic processes in live cells.
Use ClearView™ GPU to remove sample blur and enhance resolution, ensuring the best quality images.
Transmitted light microscopy
BC43 also delivers two different transmitted light options for amazing imaging flexibility:
- Use Brightfield Mode to visualise the development of larger organisms whose structures naturally deliver high contrast images
- For thinner samples and/or those with higher transparency, use Differential Phase Contrast (DPC) mode to draw out their structure
You can also mix and match modes like DPC and Widefield for even more imaging flexibility!
