The CAS-MAP™ P in vitro apoptosis assay utilizes the caspase family inhibitor VAD-FMK conjugated to a fluorescent label (green or red). VAD-FMK is cell permeable, nontoxic, and irreversibly binds to activated caspases in apoptotic cells. Any unbound reagent diffuses out of the cell and is washed away.
