Instrument received is a step up from manual hammer/liquid Nitrogen cryo pulverizing yet the quality of the product is not worth the investment. The pestles broke and many arrived with hair-line cracks. The mortars were reasonable but we also received some of them with cracks. The cryoperservation unit to contain N2 (l) is sturdy but we did not use it due to unavailable N2 (l). Probably the worst is, OPS diagnostics sent us a cheap Black and Decker $14 wrench that can be purchased on Amazon and did not match the picture depicted on their site. Sent unit back and will purchase another cryopulverizer from a reputable vendor. To be fair, they did replace cracked mortars/pestles and did take their system back with a refund as it did not meet standard laboratory equipment we are accustomed to.

An improvement on the traditional mortar and pestle, the CryoGrinder™ tools retain the strength and durability of porcelain, while adapting to the scale of molecular biology. The CryoGrinder™ mortar and pestle were specifically designed to grind small and difficult tissues (e.g., skin, sclera) at cryogenic temperatures. Their small design allows for grinding up to 100 mg of sample without excessive sample loss.
A rechargeable, cordless wrench (screwdriver) assists in the grinding process.
